SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES

SAGIM Workteam on Computerised Manometry

The workteam includes eight members in two subgroups: computer analysis and visual analysis. Einar Husebye is main responsible. Members are:

Computer analysis group: Michael Bondo Andersen (Lars M Jensen), Danmark; Tom Bombeck (Håkan Andersson), Sverige; Kenneth Rutz, Danmark; Roland Widmer, Tyskland; Einar Husebye, Norge.

Visual analysis group: Karsten Kraglund, Danmark; Per Hellström, Sverige; Søren Kruse-Andersen, Danmark; Einar Husebye, Norge.

During autumn 1995, algorithms for comparison of computer programmes were developed, and a new computer programme was written for performing automatic comparisons of computer programmes (Lars M Jensen, Gatehouse). In November 95, the computer group assembled in Oslo. The compare method was tested, and selected test records were analysed by the three selected computer programmes: Multigram (Synectics AB), Motan (Gatehouse Aps), and Small Bowel Motility Analysis (Roland Widmer).

Results were presented at the AGA meeting in San Fransisco 1996, and further data have been submitted to the UEGW-96 meeting in November. The analyses hithertoo undertaken show more pronounced differences between computer programmes than prior anticipated, and the results also indicate where the problems are.

The platform for visual analysis has been prepared, and analyses and comparisons with computer data will now be performed.

SAGIM Motility Session during the Nordic Gastroenterology Meeting in Iceland 1996.

Members have been encourged to submit motility abstracts to this meeting, and a travel grant of 2500.- to each one who presents an abstract has be given priority by the steering committee in order to promote activity within this field.

Two sections with oral free paper presentations were included in the SAGIM Motility Session in Iceland.

SAGIM has been represented by Hasse Abrahamsson during this period.

EUROPEAN SOCIETY OF GASTROINTESTINAL MOTILITY

Peter Funch-Jensen has been personally elected member of the steering committee until summer 96. Einar Husebye was proposed by 3 members of the current steering committee and elected.
